The Role of Chiropractic Care in Managing Back Pain

Back PainNew interdisciplinary studies show chiropractic shares an important complementary role with conventional medicine. Interdisciplinary practices are now becoming more common in a variety of settings with chiropractors, medical doctors, physical therapists and others working as partners in occupational health, sports medicine teams and rehabilitation centers.

Effectiveness –

  • Pain and disability scores significantly reduced at two weeks, one month, and three months post chiropractic care (72 percent)
  • Sustained results were found with acute and chronic pain as well as MRI confirmed cervical disc herniation / radiculopathy

Safety –

  • No adverse outcomes were found even with MRI confirmed disc herniation / radiculopathy

Cost Effectiveness –

  • Reduced lost work time
