Unity Health Insurance Receives Well Workplace Award by Wellness Council of America
SAUK CITY, Wisconsin, July 1, 2014 – Unity Health Insurance announced today that it has received the Gold Well Workplace Award by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) and local affiliate, the Wellness Council of Wisconsin. The Gold Well Workplace Award recognizes Unity for its commitment to the health and well being of its employees.
Unity has a long-standing commitment to provide their employees the support and tools necessary for them to improve and maintain their overall health and wellness. Unity has been recognized by their members as an organization that offers a variety of valuable wellness programs and is proud that it is part of the employee culture as well. In 2006, Unity created an employee wellness committee to design a program that provides opportunities for employees to increase knowledge and address specific health concerns on a variety of topics including stress reduction, nutrition, weight management and more. Through health screenings, health risk assessments, lunch and learns and quarterly challenges, Unity employees are able to learn how to manage their health in ways that are practical and applicable in their daily lives. Premium contribution incentives and rewards are provided to those who participate.
According to Terry Bolz, President and CEO of Unity Health Insurance, “Management at Unity is committed to worksite wellness. We believe that promoting health and wellness among our employees as well as our members is part of our responsibility. We are dedicated to providing the tools and encouragement necessary for our employees and all of our members to live long and healthy lives.”
The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a detailed set of criteria outlined in WELCOA’s seven benchmarks to a result-oriented Well Workplace. Since its inception in 1991, more than 1,000 organizations, ranging from educational institutions to non-profit and profit sectors have joined the list of “America’s Healthiest Companies” by receiving the Well Workplace Award. “Unity worked hard to successfully meet the rigorous standards set by the Well Workplace process. It is our pleasure to recognize them as the newest Wisconsin employer to achieve Well Workplace status,” said Wellness Council of Wisconsin’s Executive Director, Jessica Raddemann.
This is the third Well Workplace Award that Unity has received from WELCOA, the last one in 2011.
