According to the Centers for Disease Control , the seasonal flu (also known as "common flu" or "the flu") is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.  It can cause mild to severe illness and affects, on average, 5% - 20% of the United States population each year.

How Do I Prevent Seasonal Flu?

  1. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
  2. Wash your hands often with soap and water
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  4. Try to avoid close contact with sick people
  5. Stay home if you are sick until at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever
